What is a Spring Blade Knife? These types of knives were not really made as a single knife, but as an interchangeable knife that could be taken from one hand to the other with one half the blade. This type of knife was first made in Japan in the year 1922 and soon after it became very popular in western countries. It has become popular in many kitchens today due to its versatility and easy use.
There are two kinds of folding blades on a knife: the tang and the v-stitch. The tang is what lies under the handle of the knife. When you are holding the knife in your right hand and pull the knife out to the left, the tang comes out and the v-stitch remains behind. You then would move the knife back into your left hand and push the blade into the left side with your thumb and index finger, which would cause the blade to come out the bottom of your right hand. When you were done, the knife would go back into your baggy right hand.
The knife in this case would have a steel blade and would be able to wrap around a whole lot of stuff. This kind of knife is also called a “bersaw.” The “bersaw” is what makes it unique and also useful. To use the spring, all you do is place your finger, usually the pinkie, between the blade and whatever you are cutting. This would cause the blade to spring back giving you a good strong cut.
